As many of you may be aware, the MED recently published its revised rules.  There are a wide range of changes, from ownership rules to packaging and labeling requirements.  Over the course of the next few weeks, we will cover a number of these critical changes to keep our readers up to speed.

First, we have some good news for our readers that are involved with solvent-based extractions.  Beginning January 1, the acceptable limits for residual solvents will increase substantially.

Butane Heptane Benzene Toluene Hexane Xylene
Old Limit 800 500 1 1 10 1
New Limit 5000 5000 2 890 290 2170

(All figures are expressed are parts per million)

For those MIPs that have been struggling with contaminant process validation, this change may tip the scales in your favor.

Speaking of process validation, Complia has launched a first-of-its-kind test data compliance dashboard.  After inputting your test data, Complia performs proprietary analysis to help you automatically determine if you are in compliance with required testing regulations, including potency profile testing (flower/trim) and process validation.  Once your process is validated, Complia will also remind you when your validation is nearing expiration and it’s time to start up the validation process again.

Say goodbye to your test data spreadsheets once and for all and let Complia do the heavy lifting!  Please drop us a line if you’d like to see our test data dashboard in action.

Yours in Compliance,

Team Complia
